The Cradle on Oprah & The Hallmark Channel
The Hallmark Cable Channel’s original reality series, "Adoption. Real Families, Real Stories." was one of the most talked about television events on adoption this year. The show aired on the Hallmark Channel in July and August of 2002. The series portrayed the journey and real-life experiences of families, birthparents, and adopted children.

Each week, for 13 weeks, the series showcased two different adoption stories. Among the stories the series featured are those of Cradle adoptive moms Donna Lindsay, Zawanda Washington and Suzette Speight. Since December of 2001, producers with the show interviewed and filmed Zawanda, Donna, and Suzette throughout each step of their adoption process. All three single women are working with the Sayers Center for African American Adoption. The episode featuring Cradle moms focused on the heartwarming relationship these women have formed, and the support they have received from The Cradle and each other. Lana Corbi, President of the Hallmark Channel said, "We are all excited about this series because it gives insight into the human spirit. What we see in each show is the love, patience and extraordinary sacrifices people are willing to make in order to give and to share their love with a child."

The publicity for the Hallmark series has been phenomenal. Fox News, Entertainment Tonight, and Oprah have all provided coverage of this new show. In fact, Oprah dedicated an entire hour to the Hallmark series, and showed highlights featuring The Cradle, our nursery, and staff!
